Cadaqués is a popular spot among divers. The deep blue Mediterranean waters off the coastline provide superb diving areas; the unspoiled underwater vistas are simply breathtaking and divers are afforded a rare chance to commune with the wildlife of the sea.
The most prominent dive center in Cadaqués is the Diving Center Es Caials Cadaqués. The center was opened by Jose Lluis Mercado and is frequented by a diverse crowd of divers. The center is also important for biologists from the University of Barcelona, who use it as a base of operations for their underwater studies and expeditions.
Dives are staged from the Cap de Creus. The Cap de Creus coastline is dotted with bays, cliffs, and rock islands - a true diver's haven because of its pristine nature unpolluted by humans.
The center's diving can hold up to 17 divers. For larger expeditions, more boats can be arranged. The center also offers the usual diving courses for divers of all skill levels: from absolute beginner to dive master.
