Cadaqués is a typical Spanish village. Thus, there are a great many holidays and festivals and take place every year. Visitors are more than welcome to take part in the celebrations; in fact, they are major attractions for tourists.
January 5: The Epiphany
The feast of the Epiphany is a celebration commemorating the roles of the three kings of the east when they visited the newborn Jesus Christ.
March 24-28: Holy Week
The Lenten season, which starts sometime in late February to early March, is a very important and very solemn Catholic season. The season of Lent is characterized by abstinence from eating meat on Fridays, and various solemn processions leading up to the Holy Week. During this week, the events leading up to the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ are remembered and reflected upon. The Holy Week ends on Easter Sunday, which is a day of great joy and celebration within the Catholic community.

Christmas is the last major celebration of the year. It is always a special occasion in Cadaqués as it always is in other countries as well. On Christmas Eve, people attend the midnight mass, the Missa de Gallo. At the strike of 12 midnight, people celebrate with lavish parties and fireworks.
