The Cap de Creus is the easternmost point of the Catalonia region. It is also the last outlet of the Pyrenees. In 1998, Cap Creus was declared as a national nature reserve, the only one in Spain. The status as a reserve covers both the coastline and the sea as well as the land area. Fishing by nets is prohibited. The Cap de Creus is also the largest uninhabited area in the Spanish Mediterranean. A prominent feature of the coastline are the numerous small bays and small islands of rock. The area is also inhabited by unique species of plant and animal life.
On the Cap de Creus, one will find the restaurant of the same name as the area. It is interesting to note that, being on the easternmost point of the whole area of Spain, it is the first restaurant that sunlight touches as the sun rises everyday.
