January 5: Parade of the Three Kings

The Parade of the Three Kings, also known as the Feast of the Epiphany, commemorates the momentous visit of the three kings of the east to the newborn Jesus Christ.


March 24-28: Holy Week

Because Catholicism is the dominant faith in Spain, the Lenten season and the Holy Week are the two most important religious events in Girona . Lent starts sometime in mid- to late-February. The Holy Week is the culmination of the season, and Good Friday and Easter Sunday are the highlights of Holy Week. Throughout the Holy Week, various religious activities are held, such as solemn processions, special masses, and novenas.


April 7-17: 25 th Gastronomic week of Girona

The Setmana Gastronomica Gironina is a grand culinary fair. Some of the finest gourmet restaurants in Girona take part in this lavish food expo. Everybody is welcome to sample some of the finest gastronomic delights available in Girona .


April 23: Saint George's Day

Saint George's Day is a celebration in honor of the martyr Saint George. On this day, sellers put up stalls and stands on the streets to sell roses and books.


May 14 - 22: A Time for Flowers (Girona, Temps de Flors)

The Temps de Flors is a popular local Girona tradition. The old quarters of the city are turned into one big, lavishly decorated garden. Plant and floral exhibits of a multitude of colors and shapes all recreate imaginative landscapes and settings amidst ancient centuries-old stone structures, delightfully combining the old and new.

June 23: Verbena de Sant Juan
This is the summer solstice festival, featuring bonfires, magnificent fireworks, and street entertainment and parties.


July - August: Summer Nights in Girona

Throughout the summer season, regular shows, musical performances, open-air theater, and various cultural activities are done every night. The summer spirit literally comes alive at this time.


November 1 - 7: Festival of Sant Narcis

This is Girona 's major cultural festival. In this week, Girona 's Carnaval takes place. This is a lavish celebration that features an agricultural fair, fairground rides, various stage and musical performances, and, of course, great food and merrymaking.


December 25: Christmas

Christmas celebration in Girona is the same special occasion it is in most other places in the world. On Christmas Eve, people go to church to attend the Missa de Gallo, or midnight mass. Christmas is a solemn and joyful time in Girona .
