Museu Arqueologic de Sant Pere de Galligans

The Museum of Archaeology of Girona . An excellent collection of archaeological finds from various digs throughout Girona . Of particular interest are items from Greek and Roman periods and a unique collection of Hebrew tombstones. The museum is housed in the old Sant Pere de Galligants monastery.

The Museum of Art features an extensive collection of medieval and modern artworks from around the province of Girona . Among the more prominent items on display are holy relics of Saint Pere de Roda, the Beam of Cruilles, the altarpiece of Saint Michael of Cruilles, and various goldsmith works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

The religious counterpart of the Museum of Art. The Museu Capitular features excellent specimens of medieval religious artworks, such as the manuscript of the Beatus of Girona dating back to 975 AD and the Tapestry of the Creation from the 12 th century. Other highlights of the exhibits include fine examples of Muslim goldsmithing work and from various workshops of Girona from the 14 th and 15 th centuries. There is also a gallery of Catalan paintings from the Renaissance.

The Museum of History is housed in the Vell Institute, an old convent dedicated to Saint Anthony. On display are relics from the first settlements in the locales of Girona , such as primitive tools and implements.

A private collection owned by Tomas Mallol. This is the only museum in the country that is entirely devoted to the origins, history, and on-going development of cinema.
