The province of Girona is the site of one of the world's finest coastal areas: the Costa Brava. Spain is known for some excellent coasts, such as the Costa del Sol in the south and the coasts on the Canary Island of Tenerife. The Costa Brava is no exception; it is home to some of the world's best beaches. In the 1950s, Costa Brava was identified as being prime holiday resort material. Thanks to the good sunny weather and excellent natural beaches, tourism as an industry quickly grew and allowed the area to flourish.

Montgó beach is one of the purest beaches on the Costa Brava.
Del Pi (Portbou)
This is a small and intimate beach with crystalline waters.
Tres Platgetes (Portbou) White sand beach with no nearby facilities and amenities to speak of, and very little visitors. Excellent clear water.
Portbou (Portbou) A fully equipped beach with facilities and services. There are also conveniences for the handicapped. This is a popular site for watersports such as kayaking.
Rovellada (Colera) This beach is near the town of Rovellada and is frequented by locals of the town. Nice sand and clear water. This is also a fishing spot.
Colera (Colera) This is the main beach resort in the town of Colera. It is close to the town's fishing port.
Garbet (Colera) Quaint little beach with heavy sand and stone. Very accessible from the highway.
Borro o Azucenas (Colera) Very isolated and quiet beach. Visitors are very rare.
Punta d'Es Borro (Colera) Very quiet and isolated beach that is frequented by nudists.
Grifeu (Llan Great beach, excellent venue for a family outing. There are services and facilities for visitors.
